Mr. Jewel Slade  I am a Veteran.
September 14, 1926 - January 31, 2018

Mr. Jewel Slade, age 91, of Pascagoula passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018. He was born September 14, 1926 in Wade, Mississippi and has been a lifelong resident of Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Mr. Slade was a firefighter for City of Pascagoula and Keesler Air Force Base for over 27 years. He had a passion for music including being a part of a county western band. Later in life he became an Elvis Impersonator for many different events.

In 1980, he and his wife began making ceramics together and in 1984 established Singing River Ceramics in Pascagoula until his wife health declined in 2009. He attended First Baptist Church in Escatawpa until his wife wasn’t physically able to attend.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Lucy Slade; grandson, Jeffrey Harris; brother, Robert Slade, parents, Pearlie and Elmore Slade.

Mr. Jewel is survived by his daughter and son, Sandra Slade Harris (Fred), Lake St. Louis, MO; Gerald Slade (Sandy), Pascagoula; three grandchildren, Dawn Harris, Ryan Slade (Chelsea), Danielle Slade (Michael Jackson); six great-grandchildren, Kane, Audrina, Briella and Andre Slade; Harmonei and Cassidy Jackson; very important and special relationship, Cathy Fort (Bob), Pascagoula; sister-in-law, Joyce Slade, Wiggins, MS; numerous other relatives and special friends.

Memorial Service will be Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, 6:00pm, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Friends may visit from 5:00-6:00pm in the chapel.
