Norman Gabbard

Norman Gabbard passed away Friday December 1, 2017 in Pascagoula, MS at the age of 86.

Norman was born in Laurel, Indiana to the late George and Della Gabbard. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles.” He was a jack -of-all trades; mechanic, shrimper, welder, fisherman, and carpenter. He enjoyed going to “The Point” and watching the water and seagulls and also followed NASCAR. He and his wife Margaret Jean Gabbard, who passed away in 2007 raised 9 children together. After her death he married Cathy and remained together until his death.

In addition to his parents and wife and mother of his children, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Della Jane Gabbard, and siblings, Harlan, Creta, Helen, and Mary.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Gabbard of Pascagoula; five sons, Dean (Darlene) Gabbard of Pascagoula, Norm Gabbard, Kenny Gabbard of Pascagoula, Tony Gabbard (Joyce) and Chris (Deanna) Gabbard all of Grand Bay, AL; three daughters, Mary Glass (Bill) of Grand Bay, Claire Rojas (Jaime) of Smyrna, TN, Tonyia Gomiilion of Mobile ; a brother, Allen Gabbard (Carmen) of CA ; a sister, Alberta Lewellan of Indiana and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday December 7, 2017 from 11am-12noon at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula, MS with funeral service to follow at noon in the chapel. Interment will conclude at Orange Grove Cemetery with military honors. Condolences may be expressed online at
