Maxine Stokes McDonald
September 14, 1932 - November 8, 2017

Maxine Stokes McDonald was born September 14, 1932 in Neshoba County, MS to John Luther and Era Mae (Fulton) Stokes. Maxine went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2017.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Willard McDonald, her daughter Susan Ellen McDonald Donohoe and, 6 siblings. She is survived by her daughter Amy Michelle McDonald (Jeffery “Todd”) Buckley, her son-in-law Augustine Earl (“Gus”) Donohoe Sr.; her grandchildren Wendy Nicole Donohoe
(Christopher “Scott”) Rankin and Augustine Earl (“Gustin”) Donohoe, II., her great-grandson Austin James Rankin, and her brother Billy (Bobbie) Stokes.

Maxine was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. She was a lifetime hairstylist-bringing beauty to people across Jackson County, including Singing River Hospital (CRC Floor) and Singing River Rehabilitation. Maxine also served as a hostess for many years at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Maxine’s bright smile and warm and loving personality made everyone fall in love with her instantly and her sincere kindness toward others made you love her unconditionally. She loved people and was a true southern belle. She was faithful, loving, and loyal to her church, family, and friends until the end.

Visitation will be Friday, November 10, 2017 from 5:00pm-7:00pm, at Arlington Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS, with funeral service to follow at 7:00pm. Entombment will conclude at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, MS. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
