OBITUARIES

William "Billy" Walter Vaughan
February 25, 1928 - April 22, 2017

William Walter “Billy” Vaughan arrived as a blessing from heaven on February 25, 1928, the last of seven children born to Celeste and PT Vaughan. He spent the next 89 years as a complete joy to all who knew him, returning to his Heavenly Father on April 22, 2017. He lived his entire life happily in Gautier, MS and left from that same “hill” on which he and his wife, the love of his life, Dolores, raised their six children.

He was a track star at Pascagoula High School where he and Dolores were King and Queen of the Hi-Jinx Ball. He went off to college at Southern Miss to be a dentist but left to marry his sweet Dolores and went to work for his brother, Hal.
As the baby of seven children, he was doted on but never became spoiled, a testament to the goodness, kindness, love and laughter that was a part of this remarkable family. As the baby, he was also the last of them to leave this world. He was preceded in death by his parents, Celeste and PT, his sisters, Emily Vaughan Lipscomb Shepard, Fannie Vaughan Shipman, Agnes Vaughan Sebastian, and his brothers, Morton Vaughan, Paul Vaughan and Hal Vaughan, Sr. He lost his darling wife, Dolores, over 30 years ago after being blessed with a marriage of 35 years. Their only sons Billy, Jr. and Jimmy also left this world much too soon.
His surviving children stayed close these last months, sharing many laughs and reminiscing of times past and all their adventures and mishaps. They are Connie (Teddy) Baxter, Julie (Ron) Morgan, Cherie (Jimmy) Davis and Vicki (Patrick) Holley. His grandchildren adored their Paw Paw, all 7 of them, Lee (Tammy) Bond, Maridee (Mark) Mallette, Jill (James) Dees, Cliff (Kimberly) Dees, Summer (Shane) Morgan, Candis (Michael) Spruill, Michael (Stacye) Holley, Christopher (Rachel) Holley and Angel (Kevin) Seal. His 13 great grandchildren shared their parents love for him. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews that were exceedingly close to him, some as close as his own children.

Visitation will be Monday, May 1, 2017, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula from 2:00-4:00 pm with a Memorial Service in the funereal home chapel at 4:00pm.

Instead of sending flowers, if you have a favorite memory of him, please write it down and bring it with you for the “memory jar”, or mail it to 2000 Vaughandale Rd. Gautier, MS 39553. We won’t read it at the service and embarrass you!
