John S. Devera, Sr.  I am a Veteran.
September 21, 1934 - February 11, 2017

John was born and raised in Reading PA. After joining the military, he was stationed at Keesler AFB where he met Rena Bergeron. They married and began a 61 year journey together. He left the military in 1958 and began a career in electronics repair, leading him to Ingalls Shipbuilding where he worked in production and engineering for almost 30 years. He continued working in the industry after retiring from Ingalls until fully retiring in 2001. After retirement, he continued pursuing his hobby of woodworking.

He was a proud of member of St Mary’s Catholic Church of Gautier MS, the Knights of Columbus in Pascagoula MS, American Legion Post 1992 in Gautier MS and the Sokol Club (Slovak Society) of Reading PA.

John is preceded in death by his parents John Joseph and Sophie Devera, his sister Eleanor Devera (Madaglia) and his niece Maria Madaglia.

John is survived by his wife of 61 years Rena Devera (Bergeron), his sons John Jr (Karen), Jeff, Chris (Betty) and Paul (Karen), his grandchildren, Jamie Devera (Shields), Tina Devera (Clayton), Mallory Devera, Raven Devera, Josh Devera, Katarina Devera and Larry Anderson, his eight great-grandchildren and his nephew Michael Madaglia.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, 9:00-11:00am, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gautier. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am with Father George Kitchens officiating. Interment will be at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point. Memorial may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
